If you have 90 spare minutes, walk Lumpini at 5 pm. If you have half a day and like cycling, do Bang Krachao — the raised concrete paths through coconut jungle, with the city skyline peeking over the trees, are the most surprising thing Bangkok offers. Go on a weekend, when the small Bang Nam Phueng floating market nearby is usually open too.
Skip building a whole day around Bangkok's parks if your trip is short — they are breathers between sights, not destinations, and the heat limits how long you will stay. The exception again is Bang Krachao, which earns its half day.
With kids, Benjakitti's walkways are stroller-friendly and shaded in stretches; Lumpini's playgrounds plus lizards keep children busy for an hour. Slot a park morning before the temples or a market evening from our Bangkok nightlife guide.
