Install it when your plan says to
Scan the QR code from another screen, or add it manually in your phone settings — always while you still have internet. Most plans only start once they connect abroad; your plan's own activation terms are shown before you pay.
Go online on arrival
At your destination, turn the eSIM line on and enable data roaming for it. Your plan starts and you're connected.
