Overview
Bali's animal attractions cluster around the Ubud–Gianyar corridor: Bali Zoo, Bali Bird Park and the Ubud Monkey Forest, with tickets from about IDR 80,000–450,000 ($4.50–$25). The wild-monkey forest is the cheapest and, for many visitors, the most memorable.

Start with the Monkey Forest — it costs a fifth of the zoo, sits in Ubud town, and the monkeys are wild. Just follow the rules: nothing in your hands, no sunglasses on your head, no food anywhere on you.
Pick Bali Zoo for a structured family half-day. Its strength is proximity to Ubud and close-range encounters; its animals and grounds are decent, not world-class. The evening "night zoo" sessions are a fun twist if your days are full.
Pick Bird Park if anyone in the family loves birds — the free-flight amphitheatre show lands with all ages, and it is calmer than the zoo on crowded days.
Skip Turtle Island unless you are already doing water sports at Tanjung Benoa; it is a small pen-based stop, not a wildlife experience.
One practical note for all of these: carry small cash. Ticket counters take cards, but parking attendants, sarong rentals and drink stalls outside the gates are cash-only, and ATMs near the Ubud sights often charge steep fees.

Mostly, if you follow the rules: no food, nothing loose in your hands, do not touch or stare down monkeys. Monkeys do snatch items and occasionally nip. With confident kids it is magical; with nervous toddlers, skip it.
Yes for bird lovers and photographers — free-flight shows and one of Indonesia's largest bird collections, including the rare Bali starling. Entry is about IDR 385,000 ($21). Allow 2–3 hours; it pairs well with an Ubud day.
Animal-welfare groups advise against elephant riding anywhere, and many Bali venues have shifted to feed-and-observe formats. If elephants matter to you, choose observation-only encounters and read recent reviews before booking.
