The 15 GB eSIM covers almost everyone for ten days. Buy it 1-2 days before flying, install over home WiFi, and keep your home SIM in the phone with roaming data off so bank OTPs and texts still arrive. That two-SIM setup is the standard play.
Skip the airport SIM counter unless you specifically need a Thai phone number — the queues after immigration at Suvarnabhumi can eat 30-45 minutes at peak times. Phones without eSIM support (many budget Androids) are the other reason to buy physical, and then any 7-Eleven in the city sells tourist SIMs at roughly the same price without the queue.
