Overview

Singapore's wildlife parks: what to expect

Singapore has two separate wildlife areas. Mandai Wildlife Reserve in the north contains five parks: Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, Bird Paradise and Rainforest Wild Adventure. Singapore Oceanarium is on Sentosa, on the other side of the city.

Do not try to combine Mandai and Sentosa in one day. Choose one area, then buy dated tickets on the official calendar. Prices and bundles vary by residency, age, visit date and promotion.

Singapore Zoo

Singapore Zoo is the safest single-park choice. It offers the widest animal mix and works for both adults and children. Allow most of a day if you want to see presentations without rushing.

The site is large and humid. Start early, carry water and use the park transport when young children tire.

Night Safari

Night Safari is the most unusual choice. Its trails and tram route focus on animals after dark, so it feels different from a normal daytime zoo.

Book a timed entry and arrive early enough to orient yourself. Pairing it with Singapore Zoo works for adults and older children, but a daytime park plus a late finish can be too much for toddlers.

Bird Paradise

Bird Paradise uses large walk-through habitats rather than rows of small cages. It is an easy choice for bird lovers, photographers and families that prefer a calmer pace.

It can fill most of a day if you attend presentations. If birds are only a passing interest, choose Singapore Zoo instead.

River Wonders

River Wonders focuses on freshwater ecosystems and includes the giant-panda habitat. More of the visit is sheltered than at the zoo, which helps on a wet or very hot day.

It is often easier to pair with another Mandai park than to treat as a full standalone day. Check the latest boat-ride and exhibit status before travelling.

Rainforest Wild Adventure

Rainforest Wild Adventure is Mandai's newest wildlife park and mixes animal habitats with more active exploration. Its eastern phase opened in 2026, completing the current five-park reserve.

Read the rules for any adventure element before buying. Age, height, footwear or health conditions may apply, and not every ticket includes every add-on.

Singapore Oceanarium

Singapore Oceanarium is the expanded Sentosa attraction that replaced S.E.A. Aquarium. It combines large marine habitats with displays about ocean science and conservation.

Choose it when Sentosa is already in your plan. It pairs more naturally with the island's beaches, cable car or another Sentosa attraction than with Mandai.

Ticket and day-planning tips

  • Compare the official Mandai tickets with single-park admission before buying a bundle.
  • Check how many days a multi-park product remains valid after first use.
  • Reserve any required Night Safari or programme time slot.
  • Treat Singapore Zoo plus Night Safari as one long day, not two short visits.
  • Keep Mandai and Singapore Oceanarium on different days.
  • Read transport options for the return journey, especially after Night Safari.
