Walk the Ancient Town. The old quarter is small — an hour end to end — but you will spend far longer. The entry ticket, ₫120,000 ($4.50), covers 5 heritage stops. Do not miss the Japanese Covered Bridge, the town's 400-year-old symbol, freshly restored after a long renovation.
Lantern boat ride on the Thu Bon River. The signature Hoi An moment: a small sampan among hundreds of floating lanterns. About ₫150,000–₫200,000 ($6-$8) per boat, best 30 minutes after sunset. Yes, it is touristy. Do it anyway.
Get clothes tailored. Hoi An is Asia's tailoring capital — suits, dresses and shirts made to measure in 24–48 hours, from roughly ₫2,500,000 ($95) for a suit. Start on your first day so there is time for a fitting.
An Bang Beach. A calm, clean beach 10 minutes from the old town by bicycle. Free sun loungers if you order food, and a relaxed row of beach cafes behind them. It fills the gap if you are not staying in Da Nang — the water is at its calmest from March to August.
Coconut village basket-boat ride. Round bamboo boats spin through coconut-palm canals at Cam Thanh, 15 minutes away. Around ₫150,000–₫200,000 ($6-$8) per person. Kids love it; adults find it either charming or noisy — go early to dodge the group-tour rush.
A lantern-making or cooking class. Two-hour lantern workshops (around ₫250,000 / $10) let you take your own lantern home — a good souvenir.
Hoi An Memories Show. A nightly outdoor spectacle on a river island — hundreds of performers replaying the port's 400-year history. Tickets from about ₫600,000 ($23). Skip it on a one-night visit; the town itself is the show.
